Anna Stuart was born in Co. Wicklow, Ireland. She studied Art at the Kunstakademie in Berlin and later exhibited her sculpture in Dublin. She then set off to study with the school of Fantasy Realism in Vienna. Eventually she left for foreign lands, on her intrepid travels to Asia and Africa, where she was inspired by ethnographic and tribal art, and its relationship to design. On her return to Europe she studied Jewellery and Gemology in the Netherlands.

Along with her visual art, she has been collecting semi-precious stones, beads and organic materials for over twenty years, which she brings together into her designs.

She has worked in collaboration with Peter Francis, the director of the Bead Research Institute in New York. Jointly, they have cataloged her collection which spans from 3000BC to the 7th century AD, the early islamic period.

The research material is now in the Bead Museum in Phoenix Arizona, USA

Anna’s many other interests include garden design and interior

More recently Anna has been painting and dividing her time between Ireland and Germany. She was married to the sculptor Ian Stuart (now deceased) and

lives in Wicklow, Ireland.
