Location


Located in the Corbières area, in the heart of the Cathar country, the village of Montlaur is in a valley

defined at the North by Mount Alaric at South by the hill of La Coque. A spring in the centre of the village comes to swell the stream which meets the Orbieu River some kilometres further downstream.

Carcassonne; half and hour, Beziers, Perpignan and Toulouse about an hour away.

It is about an hours drive to the Spanish border and the Pyranees, and within 3 hours to Barcelona


Rental period


The house is available for a minimum of 4 days and rental would be based on acceptable times of arrival and departure. A booking of 25% of the rental fee is required on confirmation of booking. Balance of rental to be paid at the time of your visit. When you arrive and are given the keys, you will be asked for a deposit against damage and a cleaning deposit which is returned upon inspection. Before you leave, the caretaker will do a walk through of the house with you and so long as there no damage, they will immediately reimburse your deposit. All rental payments must be made in euros.

 

There are many activities available nearby and we are very happy to recommend and

arrange restaurant reservations and/or bookings for other events locally and in neighbouring

towns before your arrival.

This 200 year old village house in Montlaur is a comfortable base for sightseeing, enjoying the ambiance of quiet French village life with local markets and brocantes. A chance to switch off and enjoy sipping local wines whilst sampling locally produced foods and delicacies

Take your time on picturesque walks and discover old castles, botanical wonders, magnificent landscapes, or live life to the full with mountain biking, horse riding, climbing, pot-holing and many other activities available in the area.

An authentic stone dwelling in a quiet village street suitable

for up to 2 or 3 adults or family of 3 or 4. Rental of similar house

available opposite to accommodate larger groups.


Entrance Lounge (30m²) with original hearth suitable for open range cooking,

an open, welcoming space with old wooden beams and traditional features

A dining/work area at back with open larder/storage with table and 4 chairs.

• Main bedroom with original beamed ceilings, large iron double bed.

   The bedroom overlooks the quiet street through a louvre window.

  1. Bathroom - toilet and bath with shower attachment, sink, heater with

concealed washing machine and dryer.

  1. Kitchen and dining area is on the top floor with hob and oven, microwave, fridge
    and good shelving and storage cupboards below. The kitchen opens out onto the
    roof terrace for outdoor eating under shade, sun or evening stars.

From Narbonne: Motorway A61, exit 25 or D6113 to Lézignan-Corbières; D611 to Fabrezan; D212 (direction Lagrasse) for 2.5 km; D114 (direction Montlaur) for 8.5 km.


From Carcassonne: Motorway A61, exit 24 or D6113 to Trèbes; D3 (direction Lagrasse) for 14 km; D114 (direction Montlaur) for 2 km. 


By Air:

Ryanair and EasyJet (UK, Belgium) fly to Carcassonne airport;

British Airways and Air France fly to Perpignan and Montpellier airports;

Airlinair (Paris, Bastia, Bristol) fly to Béziers airport.


By Rail:
