    Sounds of the Forest

We are collecting the sounds of woodlands and forests from all around the world, creating a growing soundmap bringing together aural tones and textures from the world’s woodlands.

The sounds form an open source library, to be used by anyone to listen to and create from. Selected artists will be responding to the sounds that are gathered, creating music, audio, artwork or something else incredible, to be presented at Timber Festival 2021.

When the young group of Vivood architects discovered an abandoned animal preserve perched on a hillside in the stunning Guadalest Valley (Alicante, Spain) they knew they’d found a home for their landscape hotel. With only a year to be up and running (and an angel investor waiting), they began constructing the rooms in a factory in Valencia while simultaneously prepping the land. The design was based on a prefab concept for emergency shelters developed by Vivood founder Daniel Mayo. For the hotel, the design has morphed into wood and glass boxes on stilts that perch lightly on the land and allowing the group to use land without “developing” it. Today, the 25 suites of the Vivood Landscape Hotel rest only on a foundation of nine minimal piles that can be easily removed so the resulting resort doesn’t affect runoff or impact the land.

“I travelled 5500 km in six weeks exploring the vast landscapes of British Columbia and Alberta in Canada, always looking to place my camera gear in the most beautiful sceneries possible. With 54.000 single photos shot along the way I created ALIVE – a timelapse film which takes you on a vivid journey through wild forests, along the shores of crystal lakes and up the hills of massive mountains.

By making this project, I want to raise awareness of our wonderful planet earth which we have the privilege to be part of. That’s why we have to take responsibility for it – for the place where we are alive.” Timelapse & Edit by Florian Nick https://www.instagram.com/flo.nick/ Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/flonick Music & Sound Design: Julian Lindenmann – julianlindenmann.com Big thanks to my sponsors for your generous support: eMotimo – emotimo.com Arc’teryx – arcteryx.com Talus Lodge – taluslodge.com LRTimelapse – lrtimelapse.com All footage was shot with the Spectrum ST4 4-axis Motion Controller provided by eMotimo.
